GERALDINA INTERIANO WISE
I’m a recorder of time. An accidental immigrant, I paint from here, Houston TX, about there, the intellectual patrimony left by our Maya ancestry that I tap into for my artist voice. I’m a contemporary LatinX artist, an abstract expressionist with a source. My painting, collage, printmaking, sculpture, and performance collaborations with music and technology express the interconnectedness of all that coexists in the planet, the fragility that defines its systems, and the time space continuum in which we exist. I construct my art with materials that have a distinctive DNA; Salvadorean indigo pigment is my signature. My art practice is at the intersection of art + science, and as Artist-In-Residence at the Cullen College of Engineering at University of Houston, I aim to democratize, decolonize and define the future of art. I have been asked to represent El Salvador at the exhibit at UNESCO, Paris, for Latin American week 2023.
Soy escriba del tiempo. Una inmigrante accidental, pinto de aquí, Houston TX, sobre allá, el patrimonio intelectual de nuestros antepasados Maya, el cual es la base de mi voz artística. Soy artista LatinX/ Latina contemporánea, expresionista abstracta con temática. Mi pintura, collage, grabado y escultura, así como mis colaboraciones performance con música y tecnología, son expresiones de la interconección de todo lo que coexiste en el planeta, la fragilidad de los sistemas ecológicos que nos sostienen, y el tiempo espacio continuo en el cual exisitimos. Construyo mi arte con materiales que tienen ADN distintivo; el añil salvadoreño es mi firma. Mi práctica se encuentra en la intersección de arte + ciencia, y como Artista-en-Residencia en la Escuela de Engeniería Cullen de la Universidad de Houston, mi meta es democratizar, decolonizar y definer el futuro del arte. He sido invitada para representar a El Salvado en la exhibición de la Semana Latinoamericana en la UNESCO, París, en 2023.
