CECILIA OCANA
Cecilia Ocaña was born and raised in Northern Mexico, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and later in Interior Design in Arizona. She currently resides in Houston, where she studies at the Glassell School of Art. Cecilia began painting as an attempt to recreate spaces: to bring a feeling, an emotion, or a memory to the viewer. To enliven empty spaces, she now unveils her paintings as the soul and ambiance of every room. She is especially interested in landscapes, sunsets, and skies. Her paintings connect interior spaces with exterior nature, creating a mystical and intangible place where the visible is lost in the invisible, where one space contains another. Cecilia often utilizes unconventional materials, elements, and techniques to recreate such airy spaces. Her works reveal that we are not separated from the environment, but instead continually intertwined with the nature that surrounds us.
Cecilia Ocaña nació y creció al norte de México donde obtuvo sus estudios en Arquitectura y más adelante en Diseño de Interiores en Arizona. Actualmente reside en Houston, donde estudia en la Glassell School of Art.Cecilia incursionó a la pintura con el propósito de recrear espacios: traer una emoción, un sentimiento o una memoria al espectador. Para dar vida a esos espacios vacios, ella revela sus pinturas como el alma y el ambiente de cada espacio. Su interés es especialmente en paisajes, atardeceres y cielos. Sus pinturas conectan los espacios interiores con la naturaleza exterior creando un lugar místico e intangible donde lo visible se pierde en lo invisible, donde un espacio se contiene dentro del otro. Cecilia frecuentemente utiliza materiales, elementos y técnicas no convencionales para recrear esos espacios airosos. Su trabajo revela que no estamos separados del medio ambiente sino continuamente entrelazados con la naturaleza que nos rodea.
