JANETH CASTAÑEDA
I was born in Cali, Colombia, where I received a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente. I was always attracted to painting and took courses in some schools in Colombia and Puerto Rico. In Houston I did my art studies at the Glassel School of Art.
Currently in my paintings I reflect everyday life, the need for means of travel, which allow me to create an abstraction of those spaces, giving them differentiated and interacting geometric shapes, using colors and transparencies, where they reflect the experiences of the urban environment.
Nací en Cali, Colombia, donde recibí el grado de Ingeniera Industrial en la Universidad Autónoma de Occidente. Siempre me sentí atraída por la pintura y realicé cursos en algunas escuelas en Colombia y Puerto Rico. En Houston hice mis estudios de arte en la Glassel School of Art.
Actualmente en mis pinturas reflejo la cotidianidad, la necesidad de los medios de viaje, los que me permiten crear una abstracción de esos espacios, dándoles formas geométricas diferenciadas e interactuantes, usando colores y transparencias, donde ellos reflejan las vivencias del entorno urbanístico.
