Zulma Vega is a Colombian artist who made Houston her home since 2012. Currently, her work spans painting, sculpture and ceramic and is influenced by psychological and spiritual matters. Her style incorporates figurative language through an abstract expression using mainly wood, stoneware, resin and acrylic painting on different surfaces. Her art is a series of creative and experimental processes that describe a personal awareness that is common to anyone. Her pieces more than cathartic, invite us to ask ourselves about our ancestors, intimate inquiries, hidden feelings, thoughts and the dynamism of the psyche. She is finishing her certificate in Painting at The Glassell School of Art, Museum of Fine Arts Houston (MFAH) and pursuing her certificate in Sculpture. She has studied with artists of different disciplines in the US, Colombia and The Netherlands and exhibited in different locations in Houston, Texas.
